This or That?

     This is a super easy activity that helps you get to know your students and create that welcoming classroom community on the first day of school.  If you use the slides with the Pear Deck Add-on, students simply click and drag the marker to the object they prefer on each slide.  After answers are in, you can share you screen and let the students see if they answered like the majority of their classmates and what their classmates prefer better.  There are 31 This or That? slides in this activity. Without the Pear Deck Add-on, students can stand on one side of the room if they select the object on the left and the other side of the room if they select the object on the right.  They can hold up signs or stand on one foot, the possibilities are endless.  You can ask a clarifying question after you see students' answers to get them talking. For example, where is your favorite place to get pizza?  What do you like best about working with a partner? etc.
